Roofing Enquiries for Roofers Working in London

A relined valley in Islington, a new garage roof in Havering and a party-wall chimney rebuild in Lambeth need different skills, access equipment and diary time. London Roof Repairs collects roofing enquiries from households across the boroughs, and roofers pick them up through the Leads Do Work app, filtered by the jobs they do and the postcodes they cover.

Signing up as a contractor costs nothing, and you can look through live enquiries before paying for any. Each one comes from a homeowner who wants prices, which gives you the chance to talk to them and quote; it does not mean an inspection has been booked, that you are the only roofer contacted, or that the job is yours.

Match Leads to the Work You Do

Select the categories that reflect your business. This site covers general roof repairs, roof replacement, flat roof repairs, garage roof replacement, chimney repairs and roof window installation.

  • Pitched roof repairs: slipped slates, ridge and hip rebedding, valley and parapet gutter lead, flashings and storm damage.
  • Re-roofing: natural slate, clay and concrete tile roofs on terraces, semis and detached houses, often with leadwork and fascias.
  • Flat roofs: felt, EPDM, GRP and asphalt repairs on extensions, dormers, back additions and balconies.
  • Garage roofs: re-covering attached, detached and lock-up garages, often with asbestos cement sheet removal.
  • Chimneys: repointing, rebuilding, pots, flaunching, flashings and caps, frequently on shared party-wall stacks.
  • Roof windows: new and replacement units, conservation rooflights and flat-roof rooflights.

Be clear from the first conversation about what you do not take on, such as asbestos removal, heritage leadwork or roof windows above a certain size. It saves time on both sides.

Choose Boroughs You Can Service Well

London traffic, parking and congestion charges make travel time a real cost. A roofer based in Croydon may focus on Croydon, Sutton, Merton and Bromley; one based in Walthamstow may cover Waltham Forest, Redbridge, Hackney and Enfield. Set your coverage around the areas where you can inspect promptly, keep a scaffold booking on schedule and return for aftercare.

Remember that each borough handles scaffold licences, skip permits and parking suspensions separately. Knowing how the councils you cover handle those applications helps you give realistic start dates.

Picking a Pack That Suits Your Diary

Consider whether a pack of 5, 10 or 20 enquiries fits the number of inspections you can realistically arrange. Check current pack availability, prices, sharing arrangements and credit terms in your account before buying. Single leads and weekly subscriptions are also described on the Leads Do Work website. No pack comes with a promise of won work.

5 leads

Useful for a one-person outfit with a couple of spare mornings for inspections, or a firm trying out enquiries in one or two boroughs before widening its area.

10 leads

Suits a small crew that quotes most weeks around ongoing re-roofs and repairs, with a scaffolder who can usually fit a job in at short notice.

20 leads

Worth it when someone in the business can return calls the same day. Before buying, check your scaffold, skip and materials suppliers could cope if a run of quotes turns into signed jobs.

Getting Started

  1. Download the app and set up your roofing business profile.
  2. Tick the roofing services you offer and the boroughs you want enquiries from.
  3. Look through the enquiries currently available and the ways to pay for them.
  4. Buy a pack or a single lead to unlock the homeowner's contact details.
  5. Call or message the homeowner, ask about the roof and book a visit.
  6. Put your price in writing and agree terms with the customer yourself.

Companies joining the network are asked for relevant insurance details and references. Keep your public liability cover, contact details and any NFRC or scheme membership up to date in your profile, and confirm whether your registration covers the particular work where self-certification is proposed. Otherwise, explain the building control route for work requiring approval.

Make Your First Reply Count

Respond to the specific problem the homeowner described. Ask for photos taken safely from the street or an accessible loft, the number of storeys, and whether the roof, chimney or gutter is shared with next door. For leaseholders, check who owns the roof and who can authorise the work.

Give a realistic idea of access requirements early. If the job needs a pavement scaffold and licence, say so and explain how that affects the timing and price. Itemise scaffold, materials, labour, waste and VAT so the homeowner can compare like with like, and state what is excluded. Answer enquiries from the van or the yard, never from a ladder or scaffold.

Price the Enquiry You Have Received

A report of a leaking chimney does not establish whether the problem is the flashing, masonry or a neighbouring roof junction. Explain what your visit will establish and whether any investigation is chargeable before attending. For flat roofs, ask about the membrane and previous repairs; for garage roofs, flag suspect cement sheets before agreeing a removal price.

Homeowners may be introduced to up to four suitable businesses. A purchased enquiry gives you a chance to quote, with no promise of a visit, accepted price or completed job. Record the customer's requirements and follow up at an agreed time rather than treating an unanswered call as permission to start work.
